Default Compressor bypass pulley?

Hello all, just posted in the new to mcf area. I do have a question though. I replaced my water pump, thought it was making a grinding sound.Turns out its the AC compressor,.....well Duh!! The pump was factory and with 118,000mi what the heck, now I know it should last till my beauty dies, one less problem. Now its question time.....I know youre all anxious.......Anyone here ever install a bypass pulley? If so, does it mess up the computer? As in its looking for it and therefore altering engine performance? A pulley is about $50 and a compressor is $130-$250 ( or so Ive seen on-line) Thanks

Hey I just had the same problem (I think.....its up for opinions in the topic probably right below this..). I have the same question about the bypass, Ive heard it increases performance every so slightly and you can drop 60 or so lbs by removing all the AC stuff... BUMP
