I have an 88 monte carlo ss with a stock 305ho and am interested in replacing the computer assisted quadrojet carb. I have been told that the computer restrains it and more importantly its primary and secondary jets are poorly timed, on the contrary i have read many reviews from quadrojet supporters.

What do you guys think?

The quadrojet can be a good carb if you know how to work on them the right way.Not many people do.I prefer Holley carbs my self.
If you can build one up an keep it tuned there a great carb.

 

Instead of replacing it, fine tune it to your particular application. Even if you do put a different carb on you'll still need to play around with jet size, secondary spring pressure, etc. in order to see any significant difference in performance. Even then, any gain will be debatable. It's just one of those things you need to know how to do if you own a carbed engine and want to extract optimal performance from it.
