Default 2008 MC SS Replacement battery

I am hoping someone can help me. My monte carlo won't start just clicks. Tried to get a new battery and they said they had to order it??? How can this be? I know they are hard to get out but there isn't a special battery needed is there? Please let me know so I don't get sucked in and spend money not necessary.

Thank you

I thought 2007 was the last year for the monte... Well, the battery is a very tight fit in the 2006 model and the location of the terminals makes it a little hard to squeeze any battery in there. Most autoparts stores won't do it. I ended up spending about $75 at autozone for mine. Don't let them sucker you into getting the $200 optima. They are good batteries, but you just need a stock replacement. Also, check with a local dealer. They will have the battery (at least for an '07) in stock. Good luck.

Any name brand battery will do. I, however, stay away from interstate batteries. I have had nothing but problems with them over the last few years.

Maybe the place you talked to didn't have the proper size of battery that works for your car. I would call around to a store that has them in stock. Like people said, it's just a battery. Nothing special. You just have to get the proper group size for your vehicle.

Here is a listing that may help? http://www.gglotus.org/ggtech/batter...y-bci-size.htm

Just curious, OP. Did you tell them it was for a 2008 Monte carlo? Maybe that is the problem.

the optima i got wasnt 200 and it fits alot better i believe its the 35 red top. removal is a pain, but removing the cover and the top of the fuse block makes it easier. the optima is also smaller so it squeezes in easier. and yeah 07 is the last year so that might have been your problem getting the battery. my autozone didnt have the red top inn stock only the yellow top that was more expensive, but it only took them a day to get it in.
