Sub woofer 6th gen. (2001)
Hey guys n gals, is there a way to add a sub woofr to the existing lil amp under the back window ? Or what do I need to do? I want to keep my factory radio in because of resetting all the engine / tire monitors etc.... + as well as steering wheel controls. ~~~ thnks. Mj

On my 02, I just got a wiring diag. and spliced into the input wires to the lill amp so i could use them as inputs to another amp that i have powering my two 12's..still use the factory radio and all...hope this helps...

Could you do it? Sure you could. Would it be a good idea? Not by a long shot! That amp barely puts out enough power for the interior speakers, adding a sub to it would be a sure fire way to kill it and kill it fast. You got to remember that when you add a speaker like that you're changing the impedance or resistive load the amp see's which then changes the output of the amp and may or may not put the amp into protect mode depending on what the final impedance load is.
You could do like Boxmonster did but you would have to run an aftermarket amp and whatever you do DO NOT TAP INTO THE FACTORY AMP TO SUPPLY POWER TO YOUR AFTERMARKET AMP.
