Default 2001 3.4 oil pump drive shaft removal

Hey Everyone,
I'm doing the intake manifold gaskets on my 2001 with the 3.4 engine. The Fel-Pro gasket kit also came with a new O ring for the oil pump drive shaft that is supposed to be an improvement over the original. Plus you basically have to tear down the engine this far again if it should fail later on.
The screwdriver in the picture points out the drive shaft.
Removing it was supposed to just be a matter of grabbing the top with a pliers and pulling it out, possibly having to twist back and forth at the same time. I'm pulling and twisting fairly hard but it doesn't want to budge. Has anyone out there done this before???

Thanks for any info you can offer!

Never mind, got it out. Had to pull hard enough to finally get enough of a gap to pry it up with a screwdriver.
