Angry 2000 ss trans headach??pcm

I just bought my son a 2000 ss. 125k on the 3800. Did great on the 3, 15-20 minute test drives but after buying it, on the 70 mile drive home, the ckengine litecame on, and trans seemed to be stuck in 2nd or 3rd. I went straight to AZ, pulled codes...all 3 trany. I took it to a transmission shop right then(before i knew about this forum) and he said $1500.00 to rebuild. He said the codes were shift sonlnoids and it had a shaft that was stripped causing my TRaction Control and ABS light, and it needed updates so i had them rebuild it.
Well long story short, i got it back from the shop yesterday and the trans still seems to act up(slip or stick or hard shift on occasion) and thro the check engine lite. He said that was NORMAL on a newly rebuilt trans because it had to re-learn everything...He said to pull over, shut it off, and restart. That seems to work but IS THIS CORRECT or he blowing smoke up my pant leg???
Also if he rebuilt the trans and its still giving me problems, COULD IT BE THE PCM causing that type of trans issue.

You say "seems" to work. Sounds to me as though it "did" work.

The PCM when operating properly is always learning. It needs to re-learn and make adjustments when any major changes are made to an engine or tranny.

If, after it has "re-learned" you start experiencing problems, that's the time to take it back for a check.

i think i posted this elsewhere but, restricted cat can seem like a fkd up tranny, mine in my 03 felt like it would slip, then slam the gear on almost all shifts. replaced the cat with a high flow and problem solved.

the car is looking for certain conditions and such to shift and back pressure form the clogged cat interferes with that.

+2 on the Cat Converter.

There are numerous options if this is the case (one option being only $200) so if you get that checked out and want to replace the cat let us know.

Conclusion...It was still not shifting (stuck in 2nd) shutting it off no longer helped so it went back to shop.
This time he sited a TSB regarding a wiring harness on the trans. He replaced it and that fixed everything. No more ck engine lite at all.
If anyone is interested i can give the TSB info, i just dont have it at my finger tips.
