3Hey my monte has a hard shift when i get to about 10mph it jerks then when i get to 30mph it jerks again then again at 45/50 mph it jerks changed the trans fluids and such and got it checked there were no slippage codes or anything went to advance auto parts the guy said it by it having an elctronic trans he said the vaccum might have a problem or be cracked so im just looking for some help

I would go to dedicted tranny shop for more in depth advice. If you talk to the fella he should be able to hook up a spacialised computer from Mac tools to identify the problem, or he will have more experience.

 

Dang, I've got the same problem, same year too. One of my friends told me it could be the air intake and that it's not contsant or something. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Cheap way out of a trans rebuild that will not fix anything? First have any local mechanic check the exhaust manifold pressure, before the catalytic converter.. a clogged cat can cause the transmission to think that it's slipping... making it increase line pressure, making the shifts very hard.

I've seen it tons of times on the 2000-03/04 montes.. GM had to extend their emissions equipment warranty to like 100k,/8 years or something like that? It's a big problem with those cars.

 

Also might want to check the engine/ trans rubber mounts.. If bad you would feel the movement a lot.. Is it feel harsh when going from reverse into drive and vice versa.. or from the hit of the throttle..?

 

yeah it does jerk hard from reverse to drive and vice versa and upon hitting the throttle and today the tach is not responded once it gets into like 3rd or 4th gear so i dnt kno whats going on or what to do but it is upsetting me and i got a system to lean code for my check engine light so dnt kno if theat could be part of the problem
