2000 mc ss trans went out on me??
Hey sup guys new to the forums:d, i have a 2000 monte carlo ss and having transmission problems bad! 1 day i was driving it with no problem didnt notice no slipping or nothing, so i was driving then stopped at a red light, then i felt like a lil jerk or thump noise and now it will not go into drive or reverse it dont do nothing??? Any common issues? What can it be? The chain? I dont want to have to take it to the transmission shop and get raped for my money for something simple, any help would be real cool im trying to fix this asap, its are family car

I'd take it to a reputable independent transmission shop. NOT AAMCO or one of the other national chains. My guess is you lost your transmission. They are a problem. Did it make any "ugly" noises? When I lost mine in my '01, there was no doubt.
Is the fluid level OK What is the fluid color? When was the tranny last serviced, filter changed?
If you pay more than $1,500 you're getting overcharged. Check around. Use the phone 1st. Get a quote BEFORE you go in (ball park).
BTW, make sure you use ALL aftermarket parts. Not the cheap factory crap. It'll be the last tranny you put in if you do that. Otherwise???

What color is the fluid? Is it foamy? Has the coolant mixed with trans oil? Can you start the car in any position of the gear shift lever? Your best bet is to get the car scanned and then go from there. It's easier once you have a point of reference. These electronic cars can be a bear to diagnose "by ear".
