Default 1998 monte carlo tranny issue

Ok im new to the forum. But im not new to working on cars its been a hobby of mine for years, here is the thing my neighbor has a 1998 Monte Carlo. It has the 3100 in it, 140,000 miles for sale for dirt cheap. But theirs a catch the tranny stopped working. She said one day it just stopped, no slipping it wasn't acting up just stopped. So im thinking filter change maybe tcc switch or a vacuum issue. Any info or incite would be greatly appreciated, And if i posted this forum in the wrong spot im truly sorry Thanks for your time Thomas..

welcome to the site. Hows the rest of the car. If the price is cheap enough It may be worth it even if you had to rebuild or replace the trans.

I would definately take it for 600. Just like lougreen03 said, it may be worth it even if you have to rebuild or replace the tranny. Get some quotes on a rebuild or replacement and make your decicion from there. I wouldnt pass that offer up though.
