Hi everyone i'm new here and hope i'm doing this right
. I have a 1999 ls with a 3.1, im getting a great deal on a 3800 n/a and want to add a supercharger to it but dont know if the motor can handle it. The setup im bying is from a 00' or an 02' grand prix with 38,000 miles. im getting the cradle, tranny, computer, harness and engine. thanks!

The "Engine & Transmission" section would have been the place to put this, but regardless...take a look at this thread. It should give you a good bit of info on it.

It can, try getting all of that but supercharged from the beginning, it will save you alot of hassle. So way would I want to do an engine swap, and then a top swap (what the adding a supercharger is called) trust me its more hassle then its worth.

My vote is if you are going from a 3.1 to a 3800, I would think getting a supercharged 3800 from the get-go would be the cheaper route.
no
It's easy if you have a book. Or prior engine work experience.
Higher compression is better because you won't max the blower out as quickly, not to mention the gearing in that tranny is better for acceleration
He just asked if the engine can handle it, he must have both.
If you start making enough hp to max out the blower I really hope he still isnt trying it on a stock bottom end.
The tranny gearing is great, the non hd diff, not so much.
