"03 trans filter and fluid replace
question: what is the best trans filter kit and whats the best fluid to use to change this out? 2003 Pace car thanks!! also I have always heard not to "flush" trans fluid? because it stirs up metal shavings and gunk that was settled and causes problems after the fact?? true or not??? thanks!!

Don't flush it just do a trans filter change and fluid change. I use Dave's (triple edge performance) secret sauce in my trans but for a stock car just get a good brand dex3. I asked dave once about using dex6 and he said wasn't worth it.

I agree with John, for a stock vehicle, you can get away with any brand of fluid and filter. Don't flush the fluid, just do a simple pan drop fluid and filter change. I change mine at least every 100K miles and no issues (the Monte I did at about 70K mile because it is not driven year round so the fluid was older then the rest of the fleet).
Also, supposedly the pan gasket is re-usable. I never trust that after 70K miles, I always replace it (even though it is a metal core gasket, the rubber still ages from heat and age). If I might suggest, don't use the cheap free gasket that comes with the filter. Either get another factory original one OR order the molded metal core gasket from RockAuto.com. I've been doing that all the time now and VERY happy. Makes the job of putting the pan back together easier and those free gaskets with the filter will dry rot close to 100K miles and develop a slow drip/leak.

Thanks Maniac good info especially about the gasket, I had no idea, so thanks!! what about fluid,should I go with the new Dex 6? new question: is dropping the trans pan easy or is there anything in the way to move or can I do this in the driveway? thanks!!

I believe GM is now recommending Dex6. As long as you use what your owner's manual recommends or newer, you should be fine.
As for dropping the pan, I always make an accidental mess (OK, maybe with one exception). You have to loosen the bolts to tip the pan and drain. Sadly, that in itself can be a slow process.
As for doing it in the driveway, that's how I've done each of my trans pan drops. Jack, jack stands and go to it.
