Default '03 SS won't start

Went out to start my car yesterday, car wouldn't turn over. I took the battery to have it tested, it failed. Luckily, it was still under warranty and was free. Put the new battery in, no changes. Had friend bring over his diagnostic code reader. No codes displayed. You can hear the fuel pump clicking when I try to start the car. Any ideas on what this could be?

Does it crank? If if cranks then its normally a spark or fuel problem. Do you hear the fuel pump whine when you turn the key, the relay clicks and the pump itself makes a whining noise...

Yes, I can hear the clicking and the whining noise but it's not cranking.

If its not cranking and the battery is full, it sounds like a starter/solenoid problem.

Hi I'm Eva and new to the forum and I have a 05 supercharged SS. Saw this post about ss wont start, sometimes mine does this and I just push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times and it starts right up, all most like its resetting something.

A friend of mine is thinking it might be the ignition switch. I wondered if it wasn't a security issue, since I have an aftermarket key. But I disconnected the negative on battery to reset the computer. Also, held the key in the door to the unlock position for 10 seconds, still no luck.

I personally rip the battery cable boots off my battery wires, they tend to hold in corrosion and can make it hard to start. If that don't work you may have a dead starter /the wires are bad running to the starter or as your friend stated it could be the ignition switch.

It could be any of about a million things. Start out by checking all the connections at the battery, starter, alternator and auxiliary post. Also check all the fuses in all three fuse boxes. My wifes Grand Prix did this a few months back and it turned out to be the aux post. the mount was cracked and it wouldn't tighten. Good luck.

Do you have a factory key available? If so, try it. I know someone how had a Saturn and the PCM re-learn got it to restart. Eventually, the key fell out of the ignition months later (it had become too THIN). He had a new key made, no more problems.

Odd situation, but perhaps something in that will be of assistance.
