Michigan Michigan Club Formation
I am up north in harrison by Houghton lake. I usually make it down once a month in the summer for the big ones like gratiot, downriver, telegraph, bearing burners the first of May and Woodward. But I will make it down for the meet and greets next summer. Most of the other clubs in the area are a bit uptight. I have tried a couple of them. Most of them are worried about where they are in pecking order. They don't understand let's just meet up and relax. From what I have read here on the forum in the short time I have been here everybody here is on the same page let's have fun and relax. Looking forward to meeting everybody
My goal with this Club is something for people with similar interests (in the Monte Carlo) to be able to be a part of something that allows them the opportunity to get together with other members to share their passion and have a good time and relax, just as you said. I know exactly what you mean by some clubs being too uptight and that's not the direction I want to head with this. I'm more of a laid back person, in general, so I guess that's kind of how I'd describe the way I want the Club to be, to a point though.

I think I can see some possible additional steps in your vision Matt. If you have a small newsletter (even quarterly), it's a chance to share info about not just club meets, but other car shows in areas the club reaches. And you can share points of interest from the meets (like who all attended if it's a small meet and any awards given out). Also gives a chance to share some items of interest the club could do in the "off season".
But again, keeping the club friendly, relaxed but fun. If it's no fun, it looses value.
Sorry Matt, I hope I'm not steeling any thunder or butting in too much (if so, just slap me lol). I'm so interested in the success of your idea, as even though I see me geographically challenged to justify being a member, I see it as a chance to have a group that continues some meet-n-greets like the one I attended.

A quarterly emailed newsletter could be managed easily.
Here's the names I'm leaning toward:
Southern Michigan Monte Carlo Club (SMMCC)
Michigan Monte Carlo Club (MMCC)
I just like the originality of these. I'd rather not get too obscure.
Another thought I just had tonight is maybe for each Meet we do some type of recognition for the person that has driven the furthest distance to that particular Meet (e.g. free club t-shirt, coffee mug, etc.). I feel like Matt (Slugger088) would win this every time he attends but it's a thought.

Haha we really appreciate you making the trips out this way to attend Meets/shows and hang out with us.

I hope to make future meets. I have nothing wrong with the drive, it's having the time to vest away from home to make the drive
But it's a good trip to meet up with a bunch of good guys!!!

You KNOW I'm in with whatever you decide Matt.
I like the Great Lakes name myself, but MMCC is my choice. I created the MCF Great Lakes/Michigan Meet and Greets for everyone within driving distance to show up. And we have Milwaukee and Toronto represented, and now Ohio. Still waiting for some of these Chi-town folks to show up, AMY!!!
And here's another thought, we could have a meet in Northern Michigan sometime, even if it is small. My Dad is in St. Helen, so there's at least 3 of us near the Houghton Lake area.
This next year I'm going to reserve the pavilion for next years MCF Meet & Greet for the Saturday before Memorial Day weekend and the Saturday after Labor Day weekend. You guys good with that?

I also think a Northern Michigan Meet is a good idea. I'm not super thrilled about driving my car that far on the highway so it would either take me forever to cruise up on two-lane state roads or I throw the bra on and cruise up I-75 or US-27. Houghton Lake is pretty central so that's definitely an option for a location, and I could make a weekend trip out of it since we have a place on the Lake.
I AM planning on holding an Ann Arbor Meet again for next year. I may possibly change up the time of year for it next year and hold it earlier, like mid-summer (between the spring and fall Meets). However, I may leave it late September/early October. We'll see how it goes next weekend but I do plan on making the Ann Arbor Meet, at Gallup Park, an annual thing.
Sounds Great, I like your ideas etc. Just want it to be done right and complete, and not half done like other clubs I see. I'm interested even though I'm a 4th gen lol, hopefully more of my gen will be interested. keep me informed
Thanks for chimeing in and showing an interest in joining the Michigan base Monte Carlo Club!
Your 4th Gen will definitely be a Great addition to the club...
Pls feel free to join us.
Thanks.
