No Radio

Ok got the alternators checked. The older one was shot, the new onr supposedly works fine. noticed thatone of the cables on the pig tail (guess thats the name of it) that connects to the alternator was missing so i guess thats the cause. Gonna buy one and take it to firestone or somewhere and get it put on because i dont know how. If this doesnt fix it the only other thing i can figure is the battery. After that im just gonna take it to chevy and let the go crazy over it.

Since you mentioned the fact that it wouldn't stay running for only a few minutes definitely tells me you have a dbl issue...1) a bad alternator and #2) a bad battery... Normally if you have a low/bad battery when its running ..The ALTERNATOR IS SUPPOSE TO KEEP THE CAR RUNING... Which is exactly what happen to mine...
Its a sure sign that you said autozone charged it and it didn't last,,,,
Yes you have a battery with a "Dead" charge on it.
Once you get them both ... be sure to make sure all the connections are perfectly clean and free of any corrosion.. Then you should end up with many good years of problem free starting issue's!
I'm not sure about your Monte...
But my 5th Gen has whats known as a power pole... its located on the driverside underhood that you can easily connect other things to power...
Like fog lamps, amps etc... Which makes it easy to make use of.... I have many things hooked to it... So, I took it all apart and cleaned all the connecting wires .including the base of it... now... my monte runs great and smooth as glass.. and everything is definitely well lit like it was when it was new in 1999.

In my car, there is a Ground Strap that goes from the alternator to one of the bolts that secure the Cross Stabilize Bar in the engine compartment. If I disconnect it, I get no power to anything.
There are several ground straps in the engine compartment. Ensure that they are all securely connected on both ends. After you replace that battery of course!

According to chevy, there was a bunch of broken cables probably caused by the transmission shop. The cable to my radio was cut meaning somebody tried to steal it and failed and then tried to reconnect it but hooked it up to the wrong thing. They will be paying me for a new radio. Believe that.
