Default wiring a new head unit in

I just bought a 2000 ss and i have a alpine head unit sitting in my closet. I want all my stuff to work (dingers, gauges, etc). I kno i can buy that adapter thing for close to $100, but that is expensive. I have heard that you can T in both radios and put your oem radio in the back, but htere is only a few wires that are required for it to work. Does anyone kno how to do this and can explain it to me?

i have heard this also but the only thing i have found is a relocation kit and it is almost the same price as the other one. So 6 in a half one dozen or the other i guess.

but honestly i have a after market head unit in mine and it works fine true i dont have the bells or buzzers but honestly unless you for get to pull your keys out of the dash and never read the lights when they come on i dont miss it at all
but if you hear witch wires ya need to splice in to i would like to know as i would reinstall a chime just to have it but i dont miss it etheir.

I went to the local audio store, and they would sell me a t harness to hook up both radios, but t was 80 dollars, only ten cheaper than the magic box, but they told me that you could just wire the old one up, but leave out the speaker wires and it should be fine.
