my frien runs hifonic's stuff in his g/f's car. lol

it doesnt sound bad, and shes never had a problem with her setup in a couple years. i would make sure that you get a great HU. and remember that its probly not going to put out the rated rms wattage.

i would buy soundstream, b4 hifonics anyday.

Either of those Hifonics amps you just posted should work well for you.

I remember reading a couple years ago that they have been known to slightly overrate their amps. I'd get the one that's rated for 1200 watts personally. If nothing else, it gives you some head room so you don't have to drive the amp to its limits. It's a tad cheaper anyway.

what kinda box u think i should build ported or sealed? all mine in the past that ive built & used have been sealed

you have to remember that your paying 170 dollars for a suposive 1200 watt amp that can handle a 1 ohm load.

a nice amp that sould do the same thing would cost around 500.

at 2 ohms it says it pushes 900rms, i would say it probably really pushes 750-800

i wouldnt even try it at 1.

my freind's GF's amp gets very hot at 2.

but its all about how your set your gains, and what gauge wire you run.

i would deffinatly run 4 or less gauge.

maybe 0/2 if you plan on adding a 4 channel later on.

imo my amp runs at 1 ohm for the d part constantly for extended periods of time, and is ice cold. my buddys chick's brutus amp get hot after about 15 minutes of play.

the hotter it runs the shorter its gonna last, just like anything.

with the box i would go ported. supposibly it makes them have better SQ, but not as loud.

beleive me you dont want 1000 watts running at full go all the time, everything on your car will need dynomating. i find a new rattle once every couple months.

check with mtx on how deep your subs are, and the cubic feet per sub air space. please dont buy nice subs and suffocate them.

not really sure how to explain porting depth and tuning, maybe someone on here can , or go down to your local audio shop and ask a lot of questions.

There are plenty of great 1000+ watt, 1 ohm stable amps for less than $500. If its specs say it's 1 ohm stable, it's 1 ohm stable. Sure it might get hot, but it'll be fine. I've run my $200 1000 watt amp at 1 ohm hard for 2 years and not one problem. Can't always say it sucks cuz it's cheap.

For the box, that'll be up to you. If you're looking for slamming bass for rap and such, you'll want a ported box. Ported boxes tend to get you more ouput than sealed, but are a little harder to build. If you listen to rock-type music, sealed is probably better for you.
