Default Stock Head Unit issues

Hello all,

I just bought an '06 SS with the 6cd changer/Satellite ready stereo head unit. I'm finding that with the volume completely turned up, the stereo isn't all that loud. But, the mid range sounds really distorted. If the volume is turned up quarter of the way, I don't even hear music coming out of the speakers. I believe it to be a head unit issue and not a speaker issue. Has anyone else experienced something similar or has information?
Thanks,
Monte06NJ

you should hear music when at quarter volume.

however, the music does get distorted, and does not increase in volume, when you move from about 80%-100%.
when I want "full blast" i go to 80%. the stock head unit blows

YES!!!!

I have an 06 LTZ, and that was one thing I noticed immediately, right after I wished it was Sirius instead. With my iPod connected, full blast on the player and head unit is not 'loud' my any means.

Im going to try upgrading the amplifier. If you do it first, lemme know what happens. I have my old Alpine MRP-T130, but its two channel, so Im not sure if that can run the eight speaker setup.
