Default On Star-No Longer

Well i have always hated the idea of On Star even before i had my monte with it. i mean there are some good features of it i guess but im not paying for them anyways...and besides if you bump a button on the mirror some chick freaks out on you through the speakers. So i said to hell with that and took the antenna off of the back window to get it tinted. then the light in the mirror turned red and i couldnt have that so i went into the trunk where the nice neat onstar module was and ripped it out and threw it across the garage...oops. Anyone elese agree with me or am i too extreme

The GPS transponder is under the rear window tray, right?

Personally I choose to keep it. For one we were in Michigan in aug, 2007 and this light came on the dash telling me there was a problem with the tire monitor system. I wasn't sure if driving the car back to the Dayton, OH area would affect the car in a negative way or not? So I pushed the OnStar button and asked they run a diagnostic on my car.

I did ask them for directions two different times cause I was lost. They flipped out the second time I asked. Told me I could sign up for the directions feature for an extra $19.99/month. Or about $200 on top of the $200 they were already charging. I couldn't see paying them $400/yr for their service so I passed on the directions feature.

On star really helped me and my family out during Hurricane Katrina. Trying to evacuate through Mississippi is a pain in the *** with out a a highway. So Onstar gave us directions and got us a hotel.

I dont trust them something about the fact they know where you are, how fast your going, can open locks on your car. who's car is it mine or friggen on stars. I agree I dont like the idea one bit as well.

I see both sides. It's weird that they can find you, but what reason do they have unless you ask them to do it. I mean we aren't robbing banks in our On-Star equipped cars here. I'm going to keep it and I might even pay for the service. I haven't decided yet, but as of right now I have 3 free months.
