Default short in radio line ?

I would like to say hello to everyone, I am new to the Monte Carlo forum.

Problem with electrical noise / short.

I have a 2005 Monte SS supercharger. Recently I have had water leak into the passenger side due to the fact that the small piece of rubber weather strip above the cabin filter had fallen off allowing rain water to just run down the windshield and into the cabin filter and into the car. I have since corrected that problem.

But after a couple of days some kind of noise is now coming from the speakers.
Best way to put it is; it sounds like a loose connection (ground) or when you take the wires off of a speaker with the system still on, a loud scratchy sound.

Another example of the sound is similar to a "leaky capacitor”
The car does not have to be on for the noise to come through the speakers, no key in the ignition, it just kind of runs wild.

I have played around with all the wires I can see trying to touch it off, but nothing, it’s just random, and also with the car on it comes through the speakers, regardless of weather the radio is on or off it still makes that sound through the speakers.

I was standing outside of my car the other day with all the windows open, car off, no key in ignition and it just begins to make that crackling sound coming through the speakers and then quits…but a few seconds later or, a few minutes later it starts again.
It makes this crackling sound on an intermittent basis.

The inside of the car is now dry. I had removed the carpeting last week and hung it out to dry, and have not yet reinstalled it just to make sure it will not leak again also, to be able to let any wiring dry out that might have gotten wet.

It’s been about a week now and no change since I thought it might after drying out the car for several days.

I don’t know if it’s a radio problem or a computer problem or just a coincidence all together having nothing to due with the water coming in the passenger side.

I believe I removed about eight (8) gallons of water after removing the carpeting with the water in both the front and rear and on both sides.
No way would the car have dried out without removing the carpeting and glad I did.
All due to that piece of rubber strip that diverts the water off the windshield into the channel and over to the drain hole on the passenger side and out by the wheel-well.

Has anyone ever had a problem like this one before?

have you checked your wires for resistance from the deck to the speakers points, and from the deck to the amp? make sure all the wires are seated in the wire header properly both into it, and the where header its self is properly plugged into the deck, and stock amp.

this water damage scares me, if it was low, i'd check your speaker connections at the door.

my best guess is if its not those connections, if its all speakers its likly the amp or the deck. both of whitch i happen to have laying around, let me know i dont have the newer model deck though. the older one, from an 04. the 05 has the newer one i believe. amps the same though i think.

Probably what I would do is take the speakers out of the car and connect them to a stereo in your house and see if the noise persists. If so, it's pretty clear the issue is with the speakers themselves so I'd replace them. Get some 2 ohm speakers if you can since your oem's are 2 ohms. You could put in 4 ohm speakers but you're gonna have to turn the volume **** higher than before to get the same loudness as before.

Thanks for your replies.
UPDATE:
This morning I got into the car and no noise.
Not only no more noise but no more anything!
The radio displays ok but no sound at all.

I have tried AM/FM Cass Tapes and CDs but no sound.

I am in work so I have to let it go until the weekend.

I don't know if it's in the radio itself or in the AMP located in the trunk.

yeah, water causes issues like this, that disappear sometimes (if your lucky forever) when things completely dry up.
