Default Seats and carpet

I just bought my First classic, a 1972 Monte carlo hard top with a 327 out of a 69 camaro and a 400 turbo tranny.. I plan on changing it to a 2 speed power glide soon tho.

The reason I am posting here is to find out if I can take the seats out of a newer model monte and make them work in my '72? It is red with Black leather and its cracked everywhere. I would like to do a newer model seats in the car and I found some Black SS leather seats out of a 05 model i think Monte..

Also, Where is the best place and Cheapest place to buy GOOD parts such as carpet, fender ext, Dash pieces, Door panels, ext ext. Thanks

Well for seats, I'm almost positive you will have to drill new holes for the mounting brackets.

As far as other parts, check year one.

You should be able to get the seats to fit, you just need to set them in place where you want them to be, mark the location of the seat mounting holes and drill the holes in the floor. I cant remember if the bolts go in from the top or bottom. If they go in from the top you will need to weld some nuts on the bottom of the floor pan. I would recommend reinforcing the floor with a plate around the bolt holes if any go through only sheet metal. A flat piece of sheet metal may not be strong enough to hold the seat in place in the event of a collision. Reinforcing the holes with something will help distribute the pressure on the floor pan and keep the bolts from pulling through in a crash or over time.

Just curious, why do you want to use a powerglide trans in the car?
