Wats up Monte Carlo Fam? I just purchased a 2006 MC SS yesterday (EFFING LOVE IT). There is a slight problem. It has keyless entry and remote engine start. The bad thing is i have to be (no lie) less than 3 feet away for it to work. I was told they have like a 200 ft range. They gave me two key fobs and both of them are doing the same thing. Any solutions to this? Thanks

 

There was a TSB on this issue where they replace the antenna, remotes, and board.

It was free, IDK if you could still qualify for it though.

 

So do u think it would be better to just replace it with and aftermarket system? Or is there a cheaper/better way around it

 

Did you purchase it from a GM Certified dealer?

If so, give them a call and ask them about the TSB on the remote start issue and ask if they can perform it for you.

I prefer to stay stock with things.

 

I bought it from a Toyota Dealership. IDK why but today the range was a little longer today maybe 30-40 feet.

 

I would still try to talk to a GM Dealership about the TSB. You NEVER know, but it's worth a shot.

 

Only other thing besides what Chibi put out there, would be a dying battery in the remote.
