Remote start problem, door chime SOLVED <?>
Hey all.. Just having some minor issues with my 2006 Monte LT. Seems like my factory remote start isnt working with the car.
Symptoms and signs
All doors lock without problems.
Remote start flashes the veh's lights, so it recieved the command to remote start.
Driver door does not unlock if you take the key out of the ignition and press the power lock button, so I dont suspect the ignition belives the key is still in the ignition.
Door chime sounds everytime the drivers door is opened regardless of the headlight switch being on or off, or keys in the ignition, or out.
No CEL, or codes present.
Tried to re-progam the remotes through the DIC. Sucessfull, but no change.
A spare programmed key is in the car. Somewhere.
So where are the door plungers on this car. Older cars used to have a switch that would close and turn on your interior lights if you opened the door. I cant seem to find any..
Thanks in advance.

RE: Remote start problem, door chime.
there is a TSB about this problem
GM will do the following
1 replace the antenna
2 replace the remotes
3 reprogram the mod unit.
It will take them about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do
Best of all it will be done for free

RE: Remote start problem, door chime.
Yes it is, at least for the 06 models
When you call or talk to the dealer tell them that a TSB is out on it. Tell them its listed under the Impala.
Montes were on the list but they drop them.
They still will repair the montes so dont worry about it

RE: Remote start problem, door chime.
Update.. Car wont go into the shop until monday, and even then, possibly later. The service rep belives the car thinks the key is still in ignition, possibly due to crud in the lock cylender. He recommended bombing it with electrical contact cleaner, then inserting the key, take it out wipe it clean and do this 40 some times.
Im actually starting to belive him as I have found that if you remove the key and manually press the power lock button to lock the door, the drivers door unlocks itself. The owners manual says this is lock out protection.
So Im going to tryto scam some of this cleaner and give it a shot over lunch. Ill post the results later on tonight providing I can aquire some cleaner.

Update.. I threw a fit an they managed to squeeze my car in tonight for evalutaion.. Thankfully the technician was nice enough to let me have a seat and snap a few pics, and explained to me how this whole thing works.
So this is basically a bird's eye view of the system.
Starting from the right and working to the left, the key hole, the PASSlock receiver which is the round thing wrapped around the cylender, the key cylender.
Note the small white box connected to the aluminum, this has a pin that lowers down into the key cylender and is pushed up when a key is inserted, as you can see from the burnt color, the part has shorted open. It has green wires attached that wrap under the cylender.
So needless to say, I now will likely need a new lock cylender, keys and door cylender. Oh well.. the general is buyin. As well, there is a recall apparently for one of the power steering hoses. Anyone hear about this?
