My Monte did something strange for the first time today, and haven't been able to re-produce it again. I went to Wendy's after school today, locked the car and went inside. Left about 45 minutes later. As we were walking out the door, I hit the remote start button, like I normally do when I am getting ready to go somewhere. Parking lights flashed like normal, but the car didn't start. Then, the alarm went off. I thought that was weird, but didn't think much of it. Tried to start the car, but the Security light flashed and it wouldn't let me start the car. I got it started after the ~15 minutes you have to wait, but it was still annoying. This is the first time this has happened in the 5+ years we've had the car, and the remote start has always worked normally. Any ideas as to how this happened?

Valet 561R (I think. This was installed by the first owner)

 

Sounds like the security bypass is on the fritz. I would check the wiring but you'll probably end up replacing it

 

when i bought my monte the guy told me he had a auto-start installed on it but sometimes when he unlocked it he had to wait 15 minutes and try unlocking it again, I just stopped using it altogether ...I'll have it removed in the spring after storage....i just use the original key fobs

 

also it wouldn't start for 15 mins

 

Sorry to bump, but seems like my remote start now refuses to work at all. It cranks, I hear the engine fire, but does not keep running. Now I am thinking about getting it ripped out and installing a whole Alarm/Remote Starter system. Any suggestions? I've been looking at the Code Alarm CA6551.
