Default How to change color of instrument panel?

I took apart my dash and my instrument panel and what not to see what i needed to do to change the color of my gauges. In my 06 monte all the lights behind the gauges are LED's and they are sodered on. i really dont wanna take them off and buy red ones and have to soder those on. The reason being is that there is a risk of ruining the computer board in doing this. Is there any other ways i can change the color of my gauges to red without having to soder new led's on or spend an outrageous amount of money?? So far i have changed my dome and floor lights to red led's and it looks awesome with my red seat covers and red after market radio.

If your '06 cluster is like my '04, those are not LEDs (they are some weird incandescent bulb). That being said, to put LEDs in is the best option, but require a resistor to be put in with them. Here's a site from BBEngineer that discusses the LED upgrade:
Impala/Monte Carlo Cluster Bulb Conversion

If you are really against soldering new LEDs with resistors in, the next idea I would explore is if you can cover the backs of the gauges with a translucent film to give the color you are after.

You can also use led strips. I did that with mine and I think another member did that with his as well. They came out pretty good. I eventually would like to make a how to as far as how I did it but I have been to busy with work and school. I eventually will though. here is a pic of mine.

Yeah it is hard to get stuff done on cars with work and school haha in the same boat. anyway with the led strips are you able to dim the lights with the dimmer or do they just turn on and off with the lights. I am very familiar with led strips thats what i used for all my interior lights and i also put them on my skis and my snowmobile.

They sort of do just a bit. For the most part to the human eye they just shut off. They are no where near how the stock dim down but for me I always have them on high so that was not a major factory.
