HID"s
yeah the harness is not absolutely necessary and i normally object to them, hell not running them myself, but if i was running the 55w i would have got them. on having to modify everything that seems odd. mine were pretty straight forward no need to mod anything. i also did what you did with that gasket 5 years ago on my 80. bad move took a while, but they eventually wound up with condensation in them. i did it the right way with my 06 np as of yet 2yrs later.
what was the right way? and i didnt have to really mod anything, just had to bend the pins the pins on the harness that bulb was on so that it would fit into the cars harness. but i'll be honest I'm not very happy with the results :\ they don't perforam very well in this type of enclosure. on top of that, the highbeams have to warm up before they become very brigth and it's a considerable amount of time :\ sadly DDM doesn't do refunds on already installed electrical items
I guess i'll get that silacone and seal those off so they dont get misty like you were talking about.

on the rear cover you needed to take a step bit and drill a hole for that grommet that you slit. once the hole was drilled you would pass the grommet and the wires throw the hole. the grommet would seal the hole for the wires. on the high beam thing, yeah hids take a bit to warm up which is why you dont usually put them in the high beams. i believe that most cars that come with them dont even use hid in the highs just halogen. theres not much you can do about the light out put other than fabricate your own projectors for them since they dont make them for the 2000/05 montes. i dont know how bad your light out put is. mine is actually really good and not blinding at all. i do use my high beams from time to time though. perhaps its the color temp you went with?
ohhhh that grommit thats on it, duh i didnt even think of that XD yeah i think i'll do that ...now where to find a step bit :\ grr i know i have one somewhere :\
and i had thoughts of fabricating some projectors but that seems like a pain int he *** plus id risk damaging my montes headlights, dont the 7th have projector style? or they are shaped differently?

7th gen head lights are different.. If you wanted to make you own projectors id buy a spare set of headlights and work on them so you always have your stock pair to fall back on just incase
beat me to it^^^ hate when that happens. 7th are different. they do make them but from what ive heard theyre total crap. perhaps al you guys that want them should get a list going and contact a company about producing them. you dont have to use a step bit its just what i used. you could probably use a huge bit and then round file the hole, or test your skills with a dremel. the set i bought didnt come with instructions. i guess to cut down on printing cost they stopped sending them. if you go to ddms site and in the search type in your bulb size they have a pdf with step by step and pics. i did this for the h7s i just bought for the woman because they have an extra power and ground spade and i had no clue what the **** to do with them. very helpful

with the high beams i posted that they take forever to warm up for high beams but theres like 5 hid threads so it was probably in a different one.
with the rubber grommet, i just dont use it, i cut my rubber cover on the headlight so the wires can fit through it and then i seal it off.
I didnt use the rubber grommet thing behind the headlight... I never have problem with condensation, the only time I do is when I detail the engine but than its gone 30 min later.
why didnt you guys use the grommet? its there for a reason.
thats why i said you need to get a list of people. this exactly how the thorley headers got made for the ls4. everyone would talk about how they wanted headers but no one would make them. then a member took it upon him self contacted a company and got a hundred people to say they wanted them, got there contact info, and thorley agreed. they even used a members car for the prototype and that member got his set for free. just an idea. if you guys want them made and you showed proof that there was a big demand for them it would be foolish for a company not to make them.

mmmm i dont have the 300$ for new heads anyways
but i will i'm all for being the first to sign that list!
I did fix those gaskets though
I boched the passneger side low though
gonna have to probably replace that one. he's apsolutly right though their is no reason not to use these damn grommits i mean their right their and these headlights come out so easily, it took me like 20 mins to take them all out, unmount ballasts and everything and cut in the grommits, and put them all back in. it's stupid easy.
