6th Gen ('00-'05): HID Lookalike Bulbs for High Beams
Expensive but worth it. Ok let me explain how the auto circuit works the best I can. When you turn your car on and release the parking brake the lights will turn on. If the light sensor detects a high enough level of light then the drls (highbeams on low voltage) will turn on. if it detects a lower level of light it will turn on the low beams. If at any time you pull your turn signal lever and close the switch it will turn off the lows or drls and activate the high voltage highbeams. Drls are the daytime running lights and are only on during the day. Your low beams are what you use at night.
I wonder if they still burn out like they used to, i remember hearing stories about projectors burning out quick as heck.
so how do usual people run high beams with auto DRLS? just turn the DRLS off during the day and then at night turn on the low beams?
The projector is just the housing, the HID's are the bulbs but won't burn out as quickly if they have a relay. You only want to put the HID bulbs as your low beam (night time lights) or fog lights (the lower ones) As long as your high beams are not HID's you can leave your automatic lights as is. Sorry Dub for clogging up your thread.
Oooh, okay, yeah thats where I got confused, lol, I thought that i wouldnt be able to use HIDS because my car auto has DRLS toggled. But I misread everything lol, thanks for clearing that up. And yeah we clouded up the thread quite abit =p
Glad I could help
Hey no problem gentlemen, I learned a lot. I do recommend DDM Tuning Hiroska, I'm dealing with them not because my ballast burnt out after a year, but they have a lifetime warranty and excellent customer service.
I hear the DDMTuning 3000k yellow fogs aren't that deep and are more of a pale yellow. that's not the look I was going for. Definitely want the deep yellow, but I may have to tint my fogs to do that, and I don't really want to do that. Maybe some other companies ahve deeper yellows.
Just ordered HID 880 fogs from a company OTHER than DDM Tuning!!! I hear that the yellow 3000k HIDs were somewhat pale from DDM, and I read a lot of good reviews about XenonDepot from:
HID Kits | Aftermarket Headlights | HID Conversion | KBcarstuff.com.
If I don't find these deep yellow enough then I will actually purchase Lamin-x vinyl protective tint in yellow. These are about twice as much as DDM's, BUT I found a working legitimate coupon code on another forum for $25.00 OFF on this kit:
Volt HID Digital+ HID Kits.
Message me if interested!
