Default Factory radio- volume drops...why???

At first I thought I imagined it. It's definitely lowering in volume after a while of being on...it seems to happen when I'm slowing down, or not putting on gas. I might also have an interior lighting problem that's similar- seems to dim a bit and then come back up...but the radio thing's happening more often.
What the heck could be causing this? (want to have some ideas before I take it in). Battery? Alternator? Any ideas?...Thanks!

its a mechanism that the gm stereo's have in their system...that when you hit the gas the volume on the radio goes up, so naturally when you let off the gas the volume goes down...its to compensate for the sound of the vehicle

Ha!
... I mean, seriously, you are kidding with me, aren't you?! Cause even if that's the case, it seems to definitely be dropping volume only, but not coming back up- I have to turn it up....
They can actually engineer something like that? Or are you just pulling my leg?!

Wow, that's new to me- pretty cool!! I am still wondering about the gauge lights though...
No problem with the radio- I'm getting a new cd/mp3 radio installed as soon as the shop gets one, and it's going to be done free (dealer gave me a 350.00 coupon for it ahead of time)....

there is a button on the right side of your stereo to set the intensity of the volume control too. If you don't like it going up and down you can set that so it doesn't
