Was it the Factory radio you removed? If so, your dimmer runs through the radio. (When you dim the dash, the light in the radio dims as well.) When you removed the radio you opened the circuit for the dimmer. It's like you turned a switch off. Put the radio back, you get your dimmer back!

There is an adaptor for our car. I know Crutchfields.com sells it and if you buy the head unit from them I think they give it to you for free. But don't quote me on that. I think the head unit has to support the dim feature of the car. Either that or the adaptor has a bypass for it. Either way you are going to have to complete that circuit in order to get your dash lights back.

So I'm getting the kenwood bt 310u - it says it has dimming but does that mean when this is connected that the dash should work ... Essentially finishing that circuit and without a radio it its an incomplete one? And yeah im having it done with all the wires (adapters) ect so essentially all controls should carry over - like steering wheel controls ect? And once the new one is in the dash will finally work ?
