Cheapest possible aux port for 2001 Monte Carlo SS Stock radio
Ok, so I've just gotten my Monte Carlo SS. LOVE it a lot. My only gripe with it so far is the lack of an aux port.
I'm getting an FM transmitter ($2.50) that'll be here in a week or so but i would much prefer a proper analogue auxiliary port. I've looked into things like isimple (which i resent for the i branding) and the AAI-GM12 which i've found as cheap as ~$25 on ebay (used) but i was wondering if there wasn't a way to go even cheaper.
I don't particularly care about losing the radio stations or CD player in the process, i'll probably end up installing an aftermaket head unit with usb and aux at a later date, but in the mean time I'm a complete noob with no money (I just bought a car).
What would be the cheapest possible way to get anything running off of a 3.5mm jack? There really aren't just 2 wires you can cut and splice an aux cable onto?
