u got the 06 ss, u are good to go. its all new speakers stereo. its all good stuff from the factory. just get a couple decent 12s or 15s(depending on how loud u want to be) and a good amp. look for RMS watts. very important. some where in the neighborhood of 500 rms to 600 rms for 12s and 750rms to 1000rms for 15s(loud) will give you good bang for your buck. if u wanted a new head unit just for the looks, get yourself a double din so you can watch music videos and dvds. if not the stock looks great and performs great.

Are you guys with stock amps keeping them in or are you replacing them with a new amp?

Regarding the comment about the brands I suggested being garbage. I am not going to defend what I said. I stand by the comments, but this isn't the thread for that debate.

That is totally dependent on the person. From the couple I've heard- the stereo in the 06 SS is just normal GM parts bin stuff- and isn't particularly loud, or clear. I'm not trying to say its bad for factory, but factory stuff isn't really made for the hardcore audio type.

Not to mention, if you get into a pretty high end system- the limited settings on the factory deck will begin to limit what you can do.

personally as far as decks go Eclipse is the best. Fujitsu ten is the makers of eclipse and there phenomenal, the sound quality they emit is just outstanding. So much that every deck in every Toyota is made by Fujitsu Ten. I have the brand new Eclipse CD5030 and its such a good deck ive never had better. Now as far as others go Alpine is a great company been around for a long time and only uses quality parts. My store only sells great product and the main decks we sell are eclipse alpine and JVC. Keep in mind JVC has 2 different product line ups 1 being the ****ty line up that walmart sells 2 being there "arsenal" line, this is what I sell and its pretty good, for JVC at least. There lowest end deck only puts out 20x4 though....WEAK lol but not to bad for its price. The kameleon deck is kinda cool though
