What is perfect? Do you want more bass more highs mids lows? we need more information on what your looking for and what your price range is and how much custom work you want to do.

First thing: stop buying your audio from walmart.

Second thing: go to an well known audio shop (Ex: Best buy,or other shop.)

Third: Bring a cd to an audio sales man or installer. I recommend the installer, the sales man may not no the equipment as good as the installer.
Side note: You will need the cd so the sales man noes what kinda music you listen to, this allows him to better fit your needs.

Fouth: Bring some money good stuff isnt cheap.

If you lookin for a good stock replacement company go for Kenwood. I just bought a headunit (cd player) and front speakers 4 my s10 and i cant complain. They sound great even when i crank it.

If your lookin for competition, then you lookin into JL audio and others.

If your lookin for middle ground Alpine is also a great company.

Above is IMO.

Agreed with the above for the most part. If you looking to just hear stuff I'd say best buy is fine, but there is much better that can be done. And i would especially not let them install any of your stuff.

but as far as brands go, i agree with jonny, i have a kenwood deck currently, i think kenwood makes the best decks along with alpine. I have an alpine sub and kicker speakers and cant complain, its one of the better systems in my city.

Key thing is to not buy cheap things. Finding a good price on some pricey speakers and cheaping out are two different things. If your looking for a nice system that will last invest some money in it. It will pay off if stereo systems is something you really look for in a vehicle.

Lastly, if you install yourself, to make sure the speakers and subs arent ruined, take it easy on them for about a week or 2 to let them break in the voice coils, or else they have a tendency to burn out earlier.
