Default After MArket Radio Help

here is my situation so far, i have pioneer deh 1300mp ive had this since my lumina. i have the monte with factory amp and steering wheel controls. the guys at crutfield are saying the only way i can get my aftermarket radio to work is to get the gmos-04, but ive heard the only thing it does is retain onstar and door chimes which i dont care about either. i do want to retain steering wheel controls so i was gonna get the awsc adapter. is it possible to just use the awsc with my aftermarket radio or do i need that gmos04 harness, or can i use any type of harness PWEESE HELP

just completed this job my Monte last month. You can use just the aswc and make the stereo and steering control work but the harness is part of the data bus (computer system). Without the Pac controller strange things happen. I had what I thought were electrical problems until I used the gmos harness and they went away.

Default Easier and Safer

It is best to get them both. How to info is on this site if you search for it including the pics from my install. Be happy to answer questions if you have them as you go along. If I remember the answer

There is another way to wire the New Deck, But it requires Cutting of the "AMP" wires in the Rear Package Tray, at the "AMP" and Wiring the 16 or more wires together (8 Going in & 8 coming out). I did this a Year ago to get my Kenwood to work properly. Haven't had any issues. Even added an Amp to wear the Factory one used to sit. I can did up the wiring schematic for you if needed. This is to aid when using the Wiring Kit at the Deck Unit.
