i was at the gas station the other day and i saw a 06 Monte Carlo SS turning into the gas station he let the car idle while he ran inside the store man that LS4 sounded so sweet! i had to ask him what mods he done to get such a nice sound he said he changed his entire exhaust,cats etc but the headers were stock is that even possible? im looking for a 06-07 SS Monte at the moment im thinking bout swapping the entire exhaust system also but i do want headers what are the best exhaust and headers to put on a 06-07 SS Monte that will give me the best performance and sound

 

He probably just did a cat-back exhaust.

Of course its possible to change the exhaust and leave the stock manifolds on. He could've just done a catback and an aftermarket downpipe (with a different cat).

There really is no power to be gained from changing exhaust- so do what sounds best to you, not what company claims more power.

Secondly, there is only one set of headers available for the LS4- doug thorley, and they're about $1000.

Which one did you get again Cully and how much was everything installed?

 

I love playing with the cutout on my GXP too- its nice to have options. I like being able to talk on the phone without having to yell, but also open her up and have a totally different experience.

Only thing is, I wish it was true dual exhaust- I think with the crossover setup it sounds too much like the truck engines. I like the sound of LSx engines with true duals and some long tubes
