yah thats right, 3" would be way too big, you only want probably 2.5"

yeah I know I will loose some power down low but I will gain power higher in the rpm range where I need it the most. Plus the 3 inch exhaust will give the car a nice tone

Our engines need a certain amount of backpressure to run correctly. I am not sure if 3" would allow that to happen. You may want to talk to someone (who knows what they are talking about) at a dealership or experienced shop.

if you're bailing on the side venting then 3" wouldn't be all that big since you've dropped an SC into your Monte...

https://montecarloforum.com/m_85446/..._/tm.htm#85446if you want to see what I've done (3" DP through y-pipe, 2.5" after)...

well im keeping the stock cat in so that should hold enough backpressure for the motor

i'm no expert, but i think that the "backpressure"/"exhaust scavenging" debate is more of an issue for the naturally aspirated engines than with forced induction set-ups. when i spoke with a local auto wiz (who formally ran a GTP with a 3" setup, no resonator and a cat delete) he said that a 3" set-up on a supercharged vehicle would not cause any "backpressure" issues... also, there are several other people on running 3" (mostly the Intimidator owners ) and i don't think i have once seen a thread (when researching myself) where one person was having issues with their engine because of a lack of backpressure... ultimately it is your decision and, like i said, i am no expert, but, in my opinion, you would be fine with a 3" design!
