Default New exhaust for my 1984 monte carlo

Some my of seen my other thread about what engine i was putting in, but for the time being i want to get the stock exhaust off my 84 monte and get the american thunder kit from flowmaster, and i want to get new headers as well, is it worth replacing the headers on the 305 that is in there now for the time being and just put on the exhaust system.

and what is the difference between catback and header back?

thats some pricey stuff youre looking at. i dont think its worth swapping the exhaust on your 305 unless you intend on running another small block. if the car already has headers on it theres no need to change them. if it doesnt then thats a different story. if you want to make some more power i would recommend a set of small diameter long tube headers. 1 5/8th depending on where you live ditch the cat and run true duals. jegs and summit both sell header back kits for cheap. dynomax makes a cheap set of headers for your car as well. header back is just what it states. itll be the exhaust system from the header collectors back usually without the cats if it says off road pipes or off road use only. the catback will be the exhaust from the end of your cat to the bumper.

then small tubes wouldnt hurt you. they should make more torque. pick up a set of dynomax long tubes. 1 5/8, ditch the cat, and pick up a header back set up. 2.5 inch if your going to build a motor with a little power 2.25 if its just going to be a cruiser. heres the one i went with mandrel bent and affordable. i bought 40 series flowmaster with it. cause i think super turbos sound like crap and thats what they come with.
