Help Starting My 02 SS Project
Hello all, well I'm looking foward on making some mods to my 02 Monte Carlo SS stock. i would like to drop in a Cold Air Intake, Headers, Exhaust System. First i would like to know what CAI would be best, Second What headers could i use if i want to change the whole exhaust system to make it sound evil and deep? Any type of help with this would be appreciated. I've been reading different threads to find out of other folks projects. I'm a New B when it comes to working on cars lol.

My preference for a CAI is Cold Air Inductions, Inc. For headers I would go with the Pacesetter w/1 5/8" primary tubes since you are N/A. As far as the rest of the exhaust goes that is more personal preference then anything. What I think sounds good you may think sounds terrible and vice versa. Check out some videos on YouTube and see if there's something posted you like the sound of. Then replicate that set up on your car.

Thanks for the reply, I've heard a few exhaust systems that i like on youtube. But they were SS supercharged lol i have to find one thats for my regular SS. Whats the meaning of N/A? Ive seen the CAI and what do you think about installing a 3.4 pulley and a Stage 1 Throttle Body?

Naturally Asperated meaning there is no 'helper' (supercharger/turbo) to enhance induction. If your car is stock, I don't think you need to worry about pulley size or a larger throttle body. Those are modifications performed to an engine that is equipped with a supercharger. IIRC '04 was the first year the supercharger was offered.

Oh okay gotcha!! I was on the ZZperformance website and got that Mod information from there lol Also i want to change the exhaust from headers all the way to the tips. I'm confused to what can be removed and what can't.

The pulley is definitely a supercharger thing. But the larger throttle body is an option for both N/A and SC 3800's.
I've done a write up on my website regarding most of my mods. You can check them out here:
2004 Chevy Monte Carlo SS
Obviously, this was one approach. There are many others. Just spend some time learning about each mod and what others have done and you'll decide what direction you want to go in
Feel free to shoot questions out there, it's how most of us learn about what we've done.
