Default Need help with strange starting problem..

I have had this problem for the last 6 months and can't figure it out, whats worse is the shop I deal with can't figure it out.. Once in awhile when I try to start my 2000 Monte Carlo nothing happens , I turn the key to the first position and the dash lights up like normal, then when I turn the key to the start position the dash lights go out and nothing happens, no sound, no clicking, nothing . This usually goes on for awhile with me trying many times to start the car, turning the key on and off, then all of a sudden when I turn the key it will start like nothing was ever wrong..Also another strange thing is after I try starting the car a few times with no success the parking lights come on and won't go out until I disconnect the battery..I thought at first it was the battery but the meter says its fully changed.. Can anyone help me with this one..All help is greatly appreciated..Thanks Wayne..

back when i had a 95 cutlass supreme a very similar thing happened to me, and it turned out to be a broken wire in the steering column that set off the immobilizer.

although that was a common problem with those cars.

it is your defected passlock system. GM NEED TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM.
I have a 2000 Monte Carlo. I bought it brand new. I am having pass lock system problems. This problem begin about 6 months after my car was bought for my daughter.I saw the security light flashing and the car wouldn't crank until when it wanted to, maybe 10 minutes later. It wasn't the battery. Whereas, I have noticed that there are so many people complaining about this problems on several websites. If there are other people out there having this problem as I have already researched, we should let GM own up to this problem and be held accountable to repair these vehicles for us. First, we got to stick together and complain to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration by calling 888-327-4236 extension 23064. Suppose we are riding down the road and the car just cut off? Who know we might be in fast moving traffic. Please let begin an effort NOW for GM to recall these vehicles now! We need everybody that have ever experience this problem and who is having this problem now to call the above number. We can start our own recall because GM is ignoring us. Call the number above and make a complaint. I did. You can too. Call today! Our voices should be heard by GM!

Been there done that. I posted a step by step guide on how to bypass the passlock security. It's really easy to do, you should check it out. I did mine a couple years ago and haven't had a problem since.
