RE: gutted out intake
Hi Alex,
Please post pic's if possible and post what was gutted and how you did it.
Are you using stock air filter ? Let the forum know if it helped MPG or not...
Thanks. `d-no in `Space, Fl

RE: gutted out intake
When I did mine I used a RotoZip, basically you just start cutting plastic till you get a big opening to your filter area. Right now the box is split into two sections, the space between those two leading to your filter is about the size of a tennis ball, with this modification you can open it up to roughly a 5X5 area. I went back with a K&N as well.

I did mine for more airflow. It actually sounds better too.
The factory box is so damn restrictive and it was the cheap and dirty thing to do at the time...

Are you able to do this mod while using an aftermarket drop-in filter? I have a True Flow filter and would be interested in doing this if possible.

I've also gutted my airbox, and have felt a slight improvement in acceleration, but mostly I can hear a definitely increase in the growl from the engine, so much that it almost sounds like a V8. That plus my exhaust create a pretty nice sound, and when I get my ubend delete done on (most likely) Friday I'll have even that much more power and sound.
