Lightbulb Exhaust Advice

I have a 2002 monte carlo ss. 3800 series 2. Im only sixteen so i need sum advice. I want an exhaust system that sounds pretty deep. It dont want it to be crazy loud though. Any ideas at what system i should look at. Also about what price.

Ahh i love these topics..
Unfortunatley our montes will never have that deep rich tone you are looking for. What i have is a SLP pro-flow cat back exhaust system. Its pretty nice at idle..gives off a nice throaty low rumble, but when you get on it the sound kind of drones. Also, my car sounds alot different with the supercharger. It gives it a slightly deeper and louder sound over the n/a 3800's.

If you don't want raspy sounding acceleration, drone while cruising and popping/cackling deceleration leave the OE mufflers in place and replace the resonator with a glasspack of your choice. I went with a Magnaflow and my exhaust note is low and mellow at idle, remains throughout the rpm range and no drone at cruise.

man I really wonder if i could get away with a glasspack in place of my resonator in MA since it is not legal to modify exhausts

It doesn't specifically say your car must have oem exhaust on it. I'd ask around to see if anyone you know has modified exhaust. If they are rather strict I doubt my 04 would pass lol. Honestly if anything go for a replacement muffler, if you looked at my 97 you'd never know it has an aftermarket muffler.

I have friends with modified exhaust most have to slip the guy extra money to pass it. however if they didn't notice anything when looking at it and if it wasn't ridiculously loud I'm sure most guys would pass it no problem. i mean i don't have to pass emissions at least. my exhaust is fine except my girlfriends father said "I didn't even hear you drive up"(multiple times) he knows how much I'm a gearhead and is kind of pushing me with little comments like that.

Unlike most here on the forum.... I don't have a sound video of my exhaust....

But for a total of $130.00 (instahled...@Mufflerman)

I eliminated my resonator.... Instahled ... 2 . Excellerator "Chambered" mufflers with tail pipes.... Nice lo tone ... No droneing ... While your running down the road and no popping... Its loud enough to be heard...distinctly ...
Without sounding like a rice burner... It has a real nice "rumble" at idle ... What I like most... Its still very quiet inside so you can still hear yourself think...

Im running the stock 2 1/2 pipes.
Mine is a N/A 3800 series II

Some aftermarket resonators that meet/exceed OE spec and 50 state legal use the same case design as a glasspack. If they question it just tell them you had the resonator replaced. It will be a little louder then stock, but I think the dB level would be below the point of failure.
