Results - 2007 SS
I was posting general results for my "Custom CAI ghetto mod". As you guys know I was making a custom CAI, cheaply due to not having the money to afford one of the "Big boys", So I took a filter, some specter parts, and a trash can.
During my trial and error, I tried a bit of different things, I tried using the box, leaving the opening open with the filter stuck inside the box, having the plastic trash can as a heat shield block .Taken from Link below

That helped keep it cool a tad bit, improved throttle and gas a tad bit from just having an exposed filter. So I took it off, added a elbow to the pipping and pushed it to the far edge above my computer, and left it there, and rode around like that. It hurt my MPG, but kept the improve throttle . At this point of time, I was getting 14-16 MPG on my 2007 SS, from the computer meter, I would reset after every 50 miles or so. TERRIBAD GAS!
So, I reverted back to stock, with a store filter from O'reilys my buddy works at, and wala, pushed it up close to 19-21 MPG, I was sexified again, and the throttle response? I couldnt tell the different between the spector filter and the stock air box. MonteMan was right, unless its a Sealed CAI box, it aint worth it folks !
Thought I'd share my findings, and also ask if anyone knows where I can find a replacement rubber ruffle for my PVC or PCV air thingie? lol I cant think of the term...
