If I sold my monte, I would love to get 4500-5000 out of it. Realistically, I probably could only get 4000 at the most. The car has no rust, excellent paint minus a few spots I will be fixing come next spring, clean interior and a nice clean undercarriage and only 55,000 miles. I think it should be worth a little more than I could get out of it, but its still a 14 year old car and I cant do anything about that.

I think if I put it up for sale right now I would list it for 4500. I would probably keep it before I let it go for anything less than 4500. But of course its not for sale at the moment so it really doesnt make much of a difference.

My monte has a lot of sentimental value to it...I have recently celebrated the 11 year anniversary together...picked it up on 10/29/99 and just past 98,760 miles...I have been through so much with this car, both ups and downs....I care so much about it that I put it in my Garage while the 2005 GTO sits outside...I have recently said; I have put more money into this car then it will ever be worth, but the happiness it gives me is priceless...and to that end it is priceless to me...we are together till death do us part.

KBB retail on mine is $7,440, NADA is $7,825. I bought it 10/18 for $4500. However, I have, so far:

1) Put $548 in new tires the day I bought her
2) Spent $96 on a Mobile 1 Oil Change and diagnostic to find out why the check engine light is on
3) Yesterday spent $1460 on a wheel hub and transmission work
4) Spent about $360 for CA emissions parts left off during an engine swap to fix #2
5) Put HIDs in her today, cost about $52.

Not all parts are in yet, but the dealer who sold me the car will be putting them on (for free) so this SHOULD be the last money I have to sink into it for a while. I do still have the remainder of a 90 day warranty if needed, unfortunately only half the transmission work was covered, and the wheel hub not at all.

And I still don't have her tagged yet, since she won't pass emissions witht he check engine light on.

However, after the last bit is done, I totally think she'll be worth full retail price. The bod on this car is in such great condition, that's what really sold me on it. VERY few blemishes in the paint, still super glossy, no scratches or burrs on the rims, leather still in good shape save for 1 place on the driver's seat.

However, having worked as an insurance adjuster for 6 years, and having just gone through a total loss situation with my 2003 Eclipse GT, I know there's no way an insurance company would give me full retail for it unless the total loss happened really close to the purchase date. They don't use retail price anymore, they use Actual Cash Value, which is somewhere between trade in and retail. So, pretty close to the Private Party Value listed on KBB.

If I got about $8,000 or so for mine I would be happy, It's an 03 with just over 50,000 miles and besides a few very light scratches that could get taken out with a good detailing it's perfect.
