Default What do I look for?

I'm looking for a 86-88 SS. I've owned 67-68 Mustangs for the last 35 years, so I'm not a newbie to old cars. I live in southeast florida, so heat and humidity are a consideration when choosing which old car to consider.
What I could use is an idea of the strengths and weaknesses of the MC. What should I check on a car to weed out the rats from the buys. For example: mustangs are weak structurally, have rust problems in the cowl area, etc.
What are the problem areas on the MC that I should check on a prospective car? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Jay

Cars that come with T-Tops check for leaks. Rubber seals are probably worn out and need to be replaced.

rear frame rails, not as much of a prob on cars after 83 but you should still give it a good look. the doors rust bad, my car is a very clean low miles car and it needs some work on the doors. hope you get a good one these are great cars.
