So this has been going on for awhile but I just noticed it like 3 months ago. Whenever I accelerate below 50mph it sounds like my engine belongs in an RC. That's the best I can explain the noise, like I can hear the low engine noise it usually makes underneath the "RC-esque" noise. Any clues as to what it could be?

 

Are you sure its the engine making the noise, and not something else???

 

It sounds like it, I only hear it when I accelerate.

 

Does the car have to be moving? Can you rev while in park / neutral (not too high) and mimic the noise?

 

Yeah and it makes the same noise.

 

Well if you can mimic the noise in park, pop the hood and have someone give it a little gas, try to see where the noise is coming from.

 

Alternator whining? Power Steering Pump?

Try having someone give the car some gas in park like Chibi mentioned, and use a large screw driver to try and listen to specific parts (obviously be careful not to put it near a moving part) but like putting the tip on the alternator housing, and your ear up to the plastic handle will home in on certain noises and maybe you can figure out when it is coming from.

 

Shouldn't be the pump. I just replaced it in January.
