is bp considered one of the "top tier" gasoline places? i used to always go to sunoco because i thought they were good, i switched over to bp for a while to see what the "invergorate" does for my car, still been getting the same lousy 15-16mpg though

I put the cheapest in my old truck, but I guess I'm falling for the advertising hype the big boys put out and try to only put Chevron, Texaco in my Monte when possible.

I normally put the cheapest in my monte but it is just a n/a 3800 engine anyway. Would there be any benefit of putting the better gasoline it then?

Since this thread was (inadvertently) revived, I'll say that my 5.3 only gets ethanol-free 91 octane (or higher, if available). I just drove it to St. Louis and back and got 28mpg. This is without the AFM (killed it several years ago with a handheld). Used 15.5 gallons to get there and back, which was right at 430 miles. I also treat the fuel system and engine with ZMax. If I take it out on the road, I always look for places with ethanol-free premium fuel, and if I can't find it I just make sure to fill it at a point that I can run it almost completely out before getting home where I can put the good stuff back in it. Since it's a 15 year old car, I may have a mechanical issue here and there, but I don't have engine issues at all. I've owned the car coming up on ten years. Your results may vary....

I've been thinking of getting a different car for a while now, but then I take it on a road trip and rediscover what an absolute pleasure this car is to drive and I just can't bring myself to do it.... Driving it down to Hattiesburg, Mississippi next weekend. Soon it will hit 100K...
