Default Should I buy?

I have an opportunity to buy a 2001 LS with 244000 miles on it. Should I consider buying this? I know I will have to do some work to it but would like to get a Monte Carlo and this will be a very cheap price to get into one. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

That's a lot of miles for any purchase. Unless you are talking a few hundred dollars. These things have sensors everywhere that will go bad. This is close to needing a new computer unit. My son in law had a nice 2000 SS and he was always taking it to the shop. Mine is a 99 and didn't get all the computer refinements and sensors so it has been a positive car so far. But then there is a vast difference in his and my daughters driving styles than in mine.
So the previous drivers will have alot to do with how the Car functions.
Some of this stuff will show up in the test drive?
Check the Trans fluid to see if it is Red or Brown (Red is good) check the oil to see if it has been changed, how clean the engine bay tells you if its had proper maintenance. Finally the brakes check the rotors for grooves, and the pads for depth.
Good luck

Mileage is way too high IMO, there's no life left. Itll just be constantly putting more money in than the car is worth to keep it on the road.

What would you like to do with it? Drive it? or build it for collector?
