Default Remote Issues

Wasn't really sure what forum to post this under,

I've been having some issues with my remote ever since I got my Monte (06 LT).

It's only been the range up until now, It only works from about 15-20 feet I would guess. I have been doing other things with it ever since I started working on it so I but it on the back burner because I can get it to work (barely) from inside my house so it wasn't a huge deal.

However, winter is coming fast and since I also have a heating/ac issue that still isn't fixed (takes forever to heat up and AC doesn't work at all) I thought I would give it a little while to heat up this morning, well the car had other plans I guess.

I would hit the lock button and the headlights flashed and horn gave a blast to signal it locked both doors, then as usual held down the turn over button. I see the running lights flash then go of then nothing. I tried a couple times but it just wouldn't go.

So while sitting in the car I try again, all I hear is some fluid moving then stop, then nothing. One time I saw the engine light flash.

My engine light has been on (small leak in Emissions System says a friends code reader), does the autostart not engage if there's an error? I double checked the remote setting once started and Autostart is indeed enabled.

Any ideas?

Also, any ideas on my range issue? I have replaced the battery with no luck. Since the remote works fine and it's just a range issue I will guess it's the antenna which is in the windshield, I just got a new windshield put in (No difference in range before and after) so possibly a connection between the unit and windshield? Anyone know where that wire goes?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that if the check engine light is on the remote start does not work. Maybe another member will say for sure but I am almost positive I read that somewhere.

The 2006's are different than the 2000-2005. But I would think if the car thinks it's having an engine issue (the reason the check engine light is on), then it wouldn't start the car remotely. To save the engine from further "damage".

Ah excellent, so false alarm on that part.

Now anyone have any idea about my antenna situation? :/

Thanks!
