Power steering whine
2006 Monte Carlo and I told the dealer that it was either the tensioner or the pump.. They used the chassis ears to determine the location. Took it apart and they said that the tensioner was falling apart. I would hear the noise at no speed such as a parking maneuver. It took 3 trips to dealer to get them to admit there was a problem.
tensioners are a problem on some car's cuz sometimes you can get a dud, and yes they will whine....so it could be that....
seafoam does not void the warranty either....but i understand you saying that they need to fix it, no additives..lol...with a car that new i'd be saying the same thing

It's not the tensioner....I know that sound. This IS the power steering system and it needs fixed pronto.

LOL `James, I had to look up the word Pronto : )

You better get to your dealer then.....like `Pronto
Go `James....Go....Hurry don't wait

`Ok,
I'm going

Probably made in China and painted with lead paint. You have a good rapport with your dealer right? Have them replace the pump, hoses and rack if needed. I would not try any additives if it is still under factory warranty. I do not believe in magic in a bottle, but that is my opinion.
24_48 I totally agree with the statement "magic in a bottle." I believe they are more of a coverup than anything else. I emailed the dealer and they got back to me on bringing it in to diagnose it. I'll update when I hear something about it.

i understand completely getting it covered under warranty cuz its free, but some of those additives really do work, in my dakota my tranny wasn't shifting properly, so i tried this product called tri-pak and it really worked...fixed the shifting problem and i didn't have to fork out 3000 bucks for a new tranny, worked fine for 2 years
GM neither endorses or condones using any kind of "additives" to any part of the engine/transmission.
Funny thing is I siphoned out some of the PS fluid over the weekend and I haven't heard a peep out of it since.
