Not sure where the original thread is, but off hand, I'd want to know exactly what the O2 code is. O2 Bank 1, Snesor 1, I believe is the upstream O2, this would definately affect performance and fuel economy..... If my memory serves, Bank 1, Sensor 2 is the one past the cat and it measures the health of the CAT. Knowing the exact code would help. If the cat is failing that will also hold back some ponies....

If you are getting a CEL indicating a lean condition I would start by changing the fuel filter, then doing a fuel pressure test. If the fuel pump and regulator check out okay then I would test the connectors on the injectors and the injectors themselves. I would also inspect all vacuum lines to make sure you don't have a leak. How does the car run in general? It's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause over the Internet. A lot of things can cause a slower time...how the car is being launched...wheel/tire size...engine/transmisson problems...etc.

P0171 is the code.

Ive noticed that today being colder its running much better?

i did (3) 0-60 tests and the results were 8.18, 8.23, and 8.36

it seems to progressively get slower the longer i drive the car. after a couple hours it was back to 10seconds =/

BUT, i will get a new fuel filter right now and try that. thats an inline fuel filter close to the tank right?

Measuring your 0-60 the way you are is not a good measure of anything to compare it to the manufacturer's stats is even tougher yet. Problems with that are:
- It tough to get a tool to make sure it measure true from 0-60 (granted with some of today's bluetooth capable ODB-II scanners change that a little).
- It's environmental based (what's the outside air temp, moisture, humidty, what's the temp of the car, condition of the fuel, ect).
- Most the time a manufacturer lists a stat like 0-60, it's based off a controlled environment (to help provide ideal, sometimes optimal conditions).

As for the fuel filter, it is in line. Spray it with a penetrating oil (like PB Blaster) and TAKE YOUR TIME! Many of these, the fitting is rusted a little (if it's not too bad you can gently rock the fitting, when it won't loosen, tighten it a little, re-spray with PB, then try to loosen it again).
When I've done W-Bodies, I jack up the back driver side wheel, secure the car with a Jack Stand. You will fine the filter a little infront of the rear driver side wheel, in line with the fuel line. It's held on with a metal loop, I sometimes find it easier to unbolt the loop and remove the filter from the loop once it's out of the car.

BTW - If I remember, I will check that 171 code with the shop book at home (a quick google search does not tell me what I want to know, it just says "Bank 1", and I think BOTH O2 sensors on the car are "Bank 1", so the shop book should say exactly what sensor that references to).

But the google search basically comes to:
- Clean the MAF
- Ensure you have no vacuum leaks

i know the 0-60 isnt an accurate test. but when specs say it should be around 8.5 and my car was runnin 10.8-11.5, i knew something was wrong.

i bought the fuel filter, all the lines are rusted... im sure ill end up having my brake lines and that fuel line replaced down the road. (if i dont snap it today)

i sprayed it with pb blaster thismorning, ill do it again, and maybe tonight ill try to change it.

thank you for the info. extremely helpful.
also, when i cleaned the MAF, the check engine light went away.

NEXT QUESTION. there is a constant humming sound coming from the drivetrain. could that be bearings? maybe axle boots need greased? it just started doing it.

I have not had a chance to read the shop book indepth on this error, but I do not see which O2 is referenced in it. Based on what I skimmed of the article, I would assume the upstream (on the rear manifold).
But if you cleaned the MAF and the problem code disappeared on it's own, the car is no longer detecting those conditions.
