I would get something better then zip ties to hold the PCM. Mike's tray from a Blazer is a nice way to do it.
I clear coated my PCM and Chibi's because ours are sitting exposed for anyone to see. And the aluminum casting of it can be a pain to clean. Once you clear coat it, it's done and now EASY to clean.
I'm a fan of a brushed metal look. I used a couple Dremel accessories to clean, smooth out the rough castings and texture it. Green Scotchbright is good for some areas the Dremel won't reach. Best part is, because of where it sits and how the clear coat applies, you don't have to be crazy with all the nooks and crannies. And you only need to clear one side (make sure to cover the connectors). I like a gloss clear, multiple coats until the "look and feel" is right.
