Night photography (like your pictures) can be tricky to make look perfect. Because most cameras want to take over the settings automatically.

What camera did you use for your pics? I assume you set it to manual mode?
I do photography Part time. The map light would get me too, I used 1000 watt lights. I use the canon 40d with the canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS on these shots. The ISO was 1600, shutter was around 1/50 which alows enough room to have the Aperature at 6.3 which alows more DOF. It's a simple (to me) Mathmatical game that I can get a math teacher confused on. for shallow dof use 2.8 for higher dof use 14.0... Though in the difference take your shutter speed down 1/30th etc to accumulate the right light output with out changing the ISO. The higher the ISO the grainer the picture, the grainer the picture the less quality it has. Though I have used 3200 ISO in pure daylight photographing the NFL....

Anyone Confused?

Thanks for the info. I'm still using my Canon 30D. So I can only go upto 1600 ISO. I have experimented with various shots. I've gotten some nice shots holding the shutter open with traffic going by at night. I need to take some time to experiment more with it. Can't afford to upgrade to one of the newer models yet. So it'll have to do for a while.

no problem. The 30d should go up to 3200 (H). Check your settings as far as iso.... Menu>custom settings>ISO Expanion. The 30D is a well camera. I still have my 20d. Buy some halogen lights at Lowes.

Thanks. I checked out that setting. Now it goes from 1250 to 1600 then to an ISO setting of "H". I'll have to read my manual. In the mean time, the battery needs charging. Better go plug it in now.
